He also served as the president of the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers in In , the prestigious Newcomen Society of Great Britain honored him as the father of air conditioning.

Carrier retired as chairman of the board of the Carrier Corporation in He devoted his retirement to spreading the benefits of air conditioning to the rest of the world.
